Peninsular Warriors - Spanish Cuirassiers

Another heavy cavalry unit joins my Spanish forces, this time Cuirassiers in the splendid red tunics.  Also from Warior Miniatures, these lovely figures were fun to paint and look the part as they join the ranks of the Spanish Army.  I will need to send off to John Holt for some light cavalry next.

  1. I really wish, all those years ago now (very early 1980s), that I had opted for Warrior Napoleonics instead of 15mm. Yours are lovely, and who knows? I might actually have finished the project instead of letting it peter out in the mid-90s.

    Best Regards,

  2. Very nice indeed. My Coraceros are just Alberken French cuirassiers painted up in Spanish colours, but you've reminded me that Warrior actually do a set of Spanish cuirassier castings - are they different from the French ones?

    1. I have checked and I think the Spanish and French Cuirassiers are the same moulding.

  4. Another very fine regiment, Bob. I had no idea that Warrior cavalry was so attractive!

    1. I think the cavalry figures are quite good, although some of the horses are a little odd looking.

  5. John told me they were marmite figures! Fortunately, I love marmite.
Yes, they are children of their time, but they posses a kind of charm that modern figures lack. Warrior were my first Napoleonics in the mid 80s, chosen because they fitted with my then club's various collections of 20/25mm figures. Then they were made of bendy metal and had to be handled with care: but for a new worker saving for a car, at £11 for an army I could put up with that! As I'm handy with greenstuff I can now change any glaring innacuracies; otherwise the arms length rule applies.

  6. Cuirassiers in red, a sight you don't see every day! Even if they fight even half as well as they look they'll do well.

    1. Pretty on parade, but I am not so confident that they will perform too well in the field!
