Classic Airfix

A few days ago I stumbled across a box of Airfix US paratroopers, whilst at the same time reading about the exploits of the 101st Airborne in Normandy during 1944.  I just had to paint them.

The figures are delightful, with lots of nice poses, however, there are no heavy weapons, so out came the knife and glue.  There are a few odd figure positions which made up mortar teams, the prone figures converted quite easily into machine gunners and bazooka men and an Airfix 6pdr anti-tank gun, along with a 'buffalo' jeep, became a 57mm US version with some converted crew figures.

The whole lot, painted and based have become an airborne battalion for a future game:

Seven Years War Progress

Over the past few months I have been working on the renovation of quite a large collection of Seven Years War figures.  A large number came from from the Eric Knowles collection and others are from various purchases over the years.  Last year my focus was on sorting out the Austrian Army.  Here is a progress report picture:

All of the figures are 25mm Minifigs, as is the entire collection.  One of my aims for 2023 is to continue to finish off the Austrians and do as much of the Prussian collection as I can.  As with all my projects, I will jump from one era to another to maintain variety.

Another Roman unit is completed.  This time it is a Minifigs S Range Praetorian Guard Element (PB 133). The eagle bearer, with his enormous standard is PB 116 and the 'senior' officerPB 115.  I have sufficient figures to make up three such units.

Next will be some Garrison Assyrians.
