Classic Airfix

A few days ago I stumbled across a box of Airfix US paratroopers, whilst at the same time reading about the exploits of the 101st Airborne in Normandy during 1944.  I just had to paint them.

The figures are delightful, with lots of nice poses, however, there are no heavy weapons, so out came the knife and glue.  There are a few odd figure positions which made up mortar teams, the prone figures converted quite easily into machine gunners and bazooka men and an Airfix 6pdr anti-tank gun, along with a 'buffalo' jeep, became a 57mm US version with some converted crew figures.

The whole lot, painted and based have become an airborne battalion for a future game:

    1. Thanks Peter. I always thought it a great shame that Airfix did not think to include a few heavy weapons.
