Risk Fantasy Figures

 I have had a game of Lord of the Rings Risk hanging around unused for years.  I doubt I will ever use it but the little figures have some gaming potential.  They are about 10 -12 mm scale and consist of several foot and mounted types.  For me, they were just a painting opportunity waiting to happen.

For someone wishing to start up a fantasy game or campaign the figures can be found easily and acquired cheaply.  Yhis is what I have done so far:

Some elephant and troll types:

I have no idea what I will do with them, but they look much better now!

Rohan Cavalry

Some cavalry for the good chaps. these are more 40mm Combat Hex figures and are all personalities.  I have not been able to find any ordinary troopers so far:

I am getting close to completing all of these figures, with about 20 to go. I have run out of MDF bases and I am awaiting a resupply.

More Combat Hex Figures

Over the last few days I have spent several pleasant hours basing more 40mm Lord of the Rings Combat Hex figures.  I purchased a huge pile very cheaply and I have quite a few left to complete.  The results are quite pleasing and I am looking forward to getting them on the table for a game.

Gheap as Chips - Combat Hex

I recently acquired some figures that come from the game 'Combat Hex' .  The figures are part of a game system that includes a set of skirmish rules with fantasy figures being engaged in combat. Each figure is about 40mm high and mounted on a rather bulky plastic base that has all of the information to move and fight the figure printed on it, with some sliding bars to record wounds and action points:

As I understand it the game never really took off and has been overtaken by other rulesets and figures.  This has resulted in a large number of figures being available for sale at very attractive prices. A single fully painted figure can be obtained for well under a £1.

So, I bought some to experiment with them.  I decided to cut off the ugly base and mount the figures on MDF bases. I shall organise the figures to fit in with Command & Colors Ancient rules.
