Update for the week

I have been quite busy finishing off some small projects.

First off, I have completed my colonial highland regiment, by adding another figure and an officer, bringing the total up to 12.  They are by Barry Minot. The new figures were kindly given to me by a very generous wargamer:

Also donated to the cause are these lovely rifle armed Zulus, also by Minot:

I have also completed a group of Hadendowah warriors. These came from Tradition and I believe they are from the original Stadden range:

And finally, just for fun, I felt the urge to paint some Airfix Union soldiers in the form of a kneeling firing line:

My Dervish Army Takes Shape

The hot weather has driven me from my painting area in the attic bedrooms and so production has been slow; however, I managed to finish off another group of Dervish infantry, which brings me close to completion of a Dervish army, based upon the Portable Colonial Wargames book's suggested organisation. The new batch consists of 12 figures, which equates to three, four figure units, armed with spears and swords:
When placed alongside the other figures that are already completed this is what the emerging Dervish army looks like:

I think I will need to acquire some cavalry and a leader figure, but progress has been made.

On the painting table I have a british gatling gun almost completed and a couple more highlnders to complete that regiment.  I am also close to finishing off some red coated British to act as a foe for my recent;y pinted Spencer Smith Zulus. With the weather cooling down I should be able to complete that lot during the coming week.

Sudanese Tribesmen

Starting to think about an opposition for my newly created colonial armies I painted a few tribesmen. First off there is a group of rifle armed Mahdists. The figures are by Minifigs and they fit in well with the Barry Minot offerings:

Next up are some gunners, manning a very senior muzzle loading gun. I am not sure what make these figures are, possibly by Foundry?

This chap seems to like like someone we all know!
