Peninsular Warriors - Spanish Dragoons

Next off the production line are these rather smart dragoons; 25mm figures from Warrior Miniatures. As with all of these vintage casts they are fun to paint and produce a pleasing result.

The Spanish cavalry certainly add some colour to the field, with these bright yellow dragoons. Next up will be some red coated cuirassiers!

  1. Glad to see this kind of colorful unit, great looking Spanish dragoons!

  2. Hi Bob ...
I am really enjoying all these Warrior Napoleonic’s...

How do they compare...height wise etc...with Minifigs S Range Napoleonics?

    All the best. Aly

    1. I am going to do a comparison in my next post, so you can judge for yourself. Height wise they work very well, however, the rather exagerated Warrior infantry pose does make them stand out. The cavalry, however work much better, in my view.

  3. Thanks to your recent artillery posts I'm getting some Austrian gun crews for my recently acquired S Range Austrians which are helmeted Infantry, grenadiers and Jagers and are well provided with.cavalry but no artillery. I'll keep an eye out for S Range ones but the Warrior ones will do until/if I find some S Range ones.

So thanks for solving a problem. For me.

    1. I think gun crews work well as they are a unit set aside from the rest and they look like they are working the guns. The infantry figures do not mix as well.

  4. A fine cavalry unit - I do like colour on the battlefield.

I was just thinking they would be a fine match for my own Minifigs figures. I have a very few of what I call 'first generation Minifigs' and a similar number of what I infer to have been the 'S' range. Most of mine are the 25mm 'third generation' chappies, of which I am very fond.

I do have troops of other manufacture: some Warrior Austrian infantry (the jagers painted up as Brunswicker jager), My Russians I'm not sure about (Old glory or Front Rank), and my Prussian army - 1/72 plastics - I rescued from being deep-sixed by a friend.

    1. As mentioned above, I will do some comparison shots of Warrior vs Minifigs.

  5. I love Warrior figures. They were my first Napoleonics in the mid 80s, so a spat of nostalgia 20 years later had me sending a cheque to Glasgow. I'm happy to work on some with green stuff to give me troops they don't produce and am currently working on a line chasseur a cheval, which is a big gap in the range. Hopefully, they will take my conversions and put them into production, but if not I will cast them myself. Meanwhile, I'm happy I'm not the only one using Warrior!

  6. It is good to learn that there is another out there painting these lovely old figures. It would be good to see some pictures of your conversions.

  7. Will do Bob. I'm having my own SDSR at the moment and rebasing, so will take photos as I rebase etc. I tend to keep things simple, like adding sheepskin shabraques and tarting up the general figures. My Grenz are modified British Light Infantry. Stupidly I sold my best work: Bavarian light horse made from Austrian dragoons. But I will rebuild them...
