The Great Plastics Revival - Airfix Prussian Landwehr

Another couple of battalions roll off the production line.  On this occasion it is a pair of Airfix Prussian infantry.  The figures, painted as East Prussians, were painted from scratch after they had spent a couple of weeks bathing in Dettol to remove the old paint.

I am quite pleased with the results and tempted to paint another two units:

    1. Thanks MJT. Probably over smart, I should have painted some with bare feet!

  2. Lovely work on the Landwehr they look great, I think they were the only Napoleonic set I never had, pretty sure I had moved on from Airfix when they released them, so nice to see them all painted up, nice figures.

    1. Thanks Donnie. I have had them for years and have only just decided to do something with them. They are not bad figures. It's a shame that Airfix did not include a drummer.

  3. Hi Bob - I’d mix the poses to make them look a bit irregular. That’s what I did with my last effort on Austrian Landwehr and it does look rather good!

    1. Thanks Jeffers. A good idea mixing them up, I wish I had thought of it sooner.

  4. I remember the excitement of these figures coming out in 1979ish, useful for ImagiNations, 19th Century troops, American troops …

    1. Thanks Mark. They are nice figures, although there are some odd poses amongst the set. They are nice to paint.
