Some time ago I purchased a copy of the book 'Funny Little Wars', a set of rules based upon the famous HG Wells rules, Little Wars.
Over time I have been accumulating some 54mm figures to try out the rules. My firs unit, Turkish artillery, are by Irregular Miniatures, having adapted some kneeling riflemen into gunners. the gun is an old Britains matchstick firing piece:
I have also painted up some Britains Deetail mounted French Foreign Legion (FFL). They started off like this:And after some paint applied:
I have also painted some FFL infantry as well as a Gatling gun. My plan is for the FFL to take on my Britains arabs. The Turks/Egyptians will provide an enemy for my Britians British. I also have some Mahdist warriors.
Nice work on the FFL, they have turned out really well. The Irregular figures are rather nice I must admit.
ReplyDeleteThanks Donnie. The Deetail FFL are really nice figures that come to life with a bit of paint. In fact all of the Deetail ranges are very nice figures. I particularly like the Napoleonic cavalry that just bed to be painted.
DeleteThe Irregular castings come out quite nicely too. I have some Turkish infantry, also from Irregular.
True story - the night before I got married over 32 years ago I was repainting Deetail 7th Cavalry figures! They are gone but Mrs G is sill putting up with my hobbies!
ReplyDeleteWhat a shame you no longer have them. They are delightful figures. I have had some Deetail figures since they first appeared in the 1970s.
DeleteLovely figures and effective scenery Bob. That's a really nice idea for a project.
ReplyDeleteIt is good fun and a bit of a diversion from painting thousands of 1/72 Napoleonics! I enjoy painting larger scale figure.
