Medieval Mayhem

Ever wondered what happens when a box of lead soldiers is dropped from 7ft from the top shelf?  Well it is not a pretty sight.  That is what happened to me a year or so ago.  I was repainting, renovating and basing around 100 Medieval figures when the disaster occurred.  I was so annoyed that I simply put them back on the shelf and forgot about them.

A couple weekends ago I opened the box and tipped out the contents.  Most of the figures were just paint chipped and twisted.  A few lances and pointy bits had broken, especially the standards. The cavalry were worse off and I am still working on those figures.

Anyway, having finished off my ECW project and in between other things, I have been working on restoring these old figures. They are mainly 25mm Minifigs War of the Roses and Hundred Years War items.

Most of the infantry has been sorted out:

  1. Those look wonderful. They remind me very much of Britain's knights and other medievals of my youth.

    1. I have a soft spot for the Britains Deetail and Herald knights, which sometimes come out to play when I have a medieval bash. You can view them under the 'Britains' label to the right.

  2. Reminds me of night that my old cat jumped up on the end of a shelf of miniatures (hmm, medieval Scots..coincidence?) and taught me why you need to have supports at the very ends of a shelf, especially when its the type where the shelves aren't screwed on. The top shelf tilted under the weight of Hermes, the miniatures slid down and onto the end of the second shelf which in turn..... (we now draw a curtain over the sad but inevitable end )

    1. That long helpless feeling as the figures plummet to the ground in slow motion!

    1. Agreed, I thought the all armoured men-at-arms looked kind of Mordorish!
