I got these figures out to do a little touching up and thought I would post some pictures. These are charming, solidly made figures from the Spencer Smith range that are very easy to paint:
I converted SSM modern infantry to Zulu War British. The plastic he used was quite stiff and easy to work, so I could hack figures about and add bits with two-part car filler (a precursor to green stuff). For Zulus I shaved down a variety of his other figures, gave them pin assegais and card shields. I made about 20 before giving up!
These chaps are excellent - very nice indeed, and great fun (unless you see them coming over the horizon). I'm impressed that you have used the correct shade of buffalo dung for the head band!

ReplyDeleteThese figures, while still simple, are more detailed than the Spencer Smith ACW and Tricorne series. They are more chunky too.

ReplyDeleteI used Humbrol gloss cow dung! I am contemplating painting up a few more and maybe some Brits for that inevitable game!
