Joining my French forces is this unit of Minifigs S Range Algerians. I cannot claim any credit for the painting as this is how they came when bought on line, apart from my painting of the bases and mounting them on MDF rectangles. I did, however, paint the standard bearer and I have noticed an odd yellow streak on the red part of the flag, which I will have to rectify.
Very pretty and good troops too. Did the French ever manage an open field battle of their own against the RussiNs? I know they stormed the Makakoff etc. but thats's siege work.
ReplyDeleteOh yes indeed! The best known is the Battle of Tchernaya River on 16 August 1855, when a combined French and Sardinian force of around 18,000 defended the Fedioukine Hills against an attack by the Russian Field Army. It was quite a well balanced action and is next on my list to refight as a war game.
ReplyDeleteSplendid reinforcements!
ReplyDeleteI was never sure about these figures, but they look nice!
ReplyDeleteI am sure that they will turn up one day.
ReplyDeleteWell, I wish you luck.
ReplyDeleteOK, I will if any crimean figures turn up.

ReplyDeleteThe figures of the reference F.Cr.7s are for La Légion étrangère or L'infanterie légère d'Afrique.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the additional information.
DeleteToo bad they have Havelocks.
ReplyDeleteAgreed. But there are many mistakes on S Range figures.
