Ros French Imperial Guard Grenadiers

My main effort for the last couple of weeks has been the refurbishment of my Ros Prussian army, however, as I paint with gloss paints there are periods when I am waiting for paint to dry, so I have a number of  'background' projects.

Over the last week or so I have been dabbing paint on a unit of French Guard grenadiers and have given them a Ros command group. They are now finished. I rather like them as they look very determined:

Regarding the Prussians, I have six units on the work bench; three reserve battalions, two rifle battalions and a Warrior landwehr battlaion. I think that once they are all completed it will be time for a Spring Parade!

  1. Being of a certain age I thought I knew virtually all the figure manufacturers. But Ros? in 25mm Obviously there were Heroics and Ros and their lovely 5mm figures but this company is a new /old one for me.Saying that you have done a lovely paint job on them, well done.

    1. Thanks for your kind comments.

Ros Figures are indeed from the same stable as Heroics and Ros 1/300 offerings. They were a short lived range of budget wargames figures that appeared around 1975 and were gone about four years later. The range was quite comprehensive and was still expanding when they went out of production.

They were the first metal figures that my brothers and I bought in any numbers and we had loads of them. Then time went by and we moved on to Hinchliffe and Minifigs and until about 2010 the Ros figure collection lay dormant. About that time I dug them out and decided it would be fun to try to collect the whole range and refurbish those that I already have.

  2. The grenadiers look lovely...
I think that they are way nicer than their French line infantry...

    All the best. Aly

    1. Agreed, the line infantry are very crude and ugly - probably the first attempt by Ros to cast a 25mm figure!
