More Russian Lancers

Continuing to build the numbers of Russian cavalry units, this lot represent the Russian 13th Lancers, with their yellow facings. The figures are old Hinton Hunt 20mm examples that have been lurking in a box since the 1970s.  A second regiment of the same figures is almost complete, which will make up the Divisional light cavalry brigade:

  2. Very nice work chief. I'm cheating at the moment and intend to use my Napoleonic Russian lancers for the Crimea for the time being. It will just allow me to get a game off the ground that little bit faster.

  3. Hardly cheating as the lancer uniform was almost exactly the same as that used during the Napoleonic wars. I am not entirely sure what the origin of my figures was. All I know is that they are by Hinton Hunt and we had a huge pile of them!

  4. I really like the looks of these lancers. Painted in the Old School style; smashing!

  5. They look to me like they may be HH Napoleonic Brunswick Uhlans. Is there a code under the horse base?

  6. You could well be right. My brother was very keen on building up a Brunswick army in the late 1970s and he bought a load of Brunswick hussars and lancers. The hussars were one piece castings and the lancers were separate - which these are. These could be the same lancers. They have served in many armies since those days and have been in a box for the last 20 odd years.

  7. Bob, if you have 6 left over when you've finished I would be happy to do a swop (if I have anything you want). I'm short of 6 for Vintage Waterloo. My email address is on my profile.
    Cheers, Ian.

  8. Oh that's a shame, I have just off loaded the surplus and now all those remaining are painted. Bob
