Colonial Highlanders

Here in Bedfordshire we have still not had any rain and it remains hot and stuffy - too hot to spend any time in the war room.  So, I have been working in the shade outside, continuing you paint colonial figures.

The latest batch are Irregular Miniatures 25mm Highlanders.  They are lovely figures and easy to paint:

Some artillery next methinks.

  1. Nice job! I did a double-take at the size of figures you mention as I bought some of Irregular's 20mm figures before and they were noticeably smaller than any other 20mm or 1/72 figures from other manufacturers. So if Irregular did do 25mm, and they too were smaller than marketed, then maybe they might be a better match for what I was after. But after checking their website again I see they categorize these as 28mm. Have you called them 25mm because they too are smaller than they list? Cheers!

    1. Hi Donjono, Sounds like you have been through the same process as me with 20mm vs 25mm. The figures were originally listed by IM as 25mm then upgraded to 28mm when such figures became fashionable. they are bigger than Minifigs 25mm but match Hinchliffe and are smaller than Warlord 28mm figures. I will put a picture on here to show the scales.

    2. Aha! Ok that explains it. Yes I'm resorting to using slightly thicker MDF bases on my IM 20mm figures so that they're somewhat more visually compatible with my other 20mm figures. At a distance anyway. Ok that'd be great!

    3. I am not sure what figures you are using but Jacklex are a good option for 20mm castings, with a good selection of figures.

    4. I'd purchased Irregular's 20mm British Infantry with bell-top shakos for the 1st Anglo-Afghan War. I haven't seen anyone else do them in 20mm as yet.
