The Beautiful Daughters!

Started before Christmas, last night I finished off this pair of French line artillery units. I have to say that I am really pleased with the way they look. The figures are from the Ros 25mm range and these particular specimens are originals that I purchased in 1976. At last they take to the field in their correct uniforms:

    I really like these figures. There is something about the simplicity of Old School figures that draws me in. Never saw anything other than plastic Rospacks (in adverts!) back in the day, but I suspect they were swallowed in the quest for ever more detailed and chunkier toys.

      I have always like them. Ros figures were our first foray into metal soldiers, and we bought hundreds of them. Most have survived over the years too.

    Very handsome! Your reds are nice and bright. Did you undercoat in white first, or did you opt for a scarlet?

      Thanks. I use a matt red as a primer and then Humbrol 19, which is a very bright red. It seems to be a relatively new colour in the Humbrol range, that replaced signal red, which was more dull.

      Ros seems to have used five figure sets for all of the gun crews, which include two figures simply standing. As far as I can tell there were six sets, one Prussian, three French and two British, all in the same style.

    Really, really nice Bob. Are the guns Ross too? They're a decent size, I must say.

    I suddenly feel a whole lot better about the figures I've had sitting about unpainted for five years.

      The guns are by Ros, 8pdrs I believe. Now you need to get out that paint brush!
