I was going through an old memory stick when I found some old pictures of Airfix 1/76 figures set in the Western Desert. I must have painted these around 2009 when I was working overseas and had lots of spare evenings. They are a mix of Aifix 8th Army, Afrika Korps and the Bren Gun Carrier with 6pdr:

DeleteI remember getting very excited about the Vickers team… It’s a shame Airfix didn’t continue with the original Type 1 painting guides which were quite accurate, like showing the DAK in olive green. The later guides everything was a sandy yellow. You’ve done a super job on these.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jef, the Vickers is still a bit basic but I did upgrade the mine detector bod by adding some detail. He seemed to be just carrying a stick originally.

ReplyDeleteThanks Matt. I agree, although, I always regretted the fact that Airfix did not produce many heavy weapons with their sets. They could have added mortars and anti tank weapons and heavy machine guns for the Germans.
