Austrian Army Review - The Infantry

Over the weekend I completed reorganising the first tranche of the Austrian infantry.

So far, I have rebased 10 battalions and they provide a colourful mix of shako and helmet line infantry, Grenzers and Jaegers.  All of the figures are by Warrior Miniatures and have been beautifully painted by Jeffers:

I have taken a look in the spares box and I have found sufficient command figures to provide the right structure for the odds and ends left from the rebasing exercise. There could be quite a few extra battalions.

My next tranche will be the combined grenadier battalions.

  1. Bob -
Once I bought second hand a bunch of Warrior figures to eke out my mainly Minifigs Austrian army. The now form a small Army Corps of their own, Vth Corps, with an integral Division of grenadiers (in terms of my Big Battles for Small Tables set up). The Corps includes a small formation of chevauxlegers. The jager became Brunswick jager, to round out my little Brunswicker Corps. I like these Warrior figures: cute, but just a trifle delicate.
    Cheers,
    Ion

    1. I have some British light infantry painted up as Peninsular infantry and rifles as Portuguese. As you point out they do suffer from broken barrels and bayonets.

  2. Lovely parade Bob, super looking army, not too everyone's taste as we know but there is something about Warrior Napoleonics they look great when painted nicely. I hope they perform as well on the table as they look.

    1. Agreed, although never really receiving much praise or being popular, these lovely figures do have a great character. I always think that they look as though surge forwards seeking a fight.

    1. No, no, no, he has outflanked them and is attacking from the rear!

  4. As a first tranche that's pretty impressive, are there lots more to come?

    1. Thanks Rob. Not counting unpainted figures, I reckon this represents about one third of the infantry. Then there's the French, Saxon and Wurttemberg units!
